Alyssa Van Hinte is a visual artist who studies her practice on the unceded territories of the Lək̓ʷəŋən People, also known as Victoria, British Columbia. She began to develop her practice in a professional environment after being accepted into the University of Victoria and is now currently working to get her BFA. Alyssa is a multidisciplinary artist with a primary focus on painting, however she also has a background in sculpture, ceramics, and drawing which have helped her further her interest in art. Her work is driven by an interest in the relationship between beauty and discomfort. Focusing on traditional painting techniques using acrylic and oil, Alyssa’s work often features a distinctly human presence. Whether that is through objects or the human form.
